Atlas Shrugged is a novel produced by one of the most well known writers who is known for her exceptional work, Ayn Rand. She came out with this book for the first time in the year 1957. This was her last creative effort in this sector since she moved on to writing exclusively on cultural criticism, politics as well as philosophy. The novel is soon being adapted as the story of a film being produced by Baldwin Entertainment Group.

Atlas Shrugged is being developed by the Group in conjunction with Lions Gate Entertainment. James V Hart and writer director Randall Wallace have created a screenplay for this adaptation. Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have been roped in for this production. Both are considered to be ardent fans of Rands works. Jolie is supposed to play the character of Dagny Taggart. Brad is supposed to play the role of either Hank Rearden or Galt.

Atlas Shrugged is due to be released sometime around 2008. the production company Lions Gate has picked up the distribution rights for this film. They have also given the responsibility of directing the film to the creative director Vadim Perelman. The film has always had a production problem from the very beginning.

Atlas Shrugged was supposed to be made into a film long time back just after its release and popularity. The author received several offers from production companies, the first one from Albert S Ruddy.
