Rene Marie Russo, a very popular American actress, was born on the 17th of February, in the year 1954 in Burbank, in the state of California. She is an Italian American by origin. However, she was not brought up in a very healthy family. Her father Nino Russo, who was a sculptor by profession, had abandoned them when she was only two years old. As a result, she was brought up along with her sister Toni, by her mother Shirley Jean who then earned money being a barmaid.

Rene Russo did her schooling in the Burroughs High School, but could study only till the tenth standard. Her mother, having the burden of bringing two daughters up, faced serious financial problem at that time.
