Stephen Trachsel Baseball Starting Pitcher


Born on October 31st, 1970 Stephen Trachel plays as a starting pitcher with the Chicago Clubs. After completing his graduation from the Troy High School, California, he attended the Long Beach Sate University.

It was in 1991 that Stephen Trachsel led the College World Series. In 1991, he was drafted by the Chicago Clubs, and later made his debut as a major league player, in 1993.The year 1996 was a successful year in his career, when he had a career best 3.03.In the same year he was named to the Major League Baseball All-Star Game.The year 2000 he spent playing for American League and posted 15 losses.It was a major setback for him.

During the start of 2000, he performed poorly with the Mets due to which he was sent to minor leagues. In the later part of the year Stephen Trachsel successfully returned with the Mets and his career witnessed some of the best matches till 2002. It was in this year that had a 3.37 ERA. He continued winning many games and recorded 16 wins, that also included his 100th career win.

2004 witnessed many health problems for the player. He had suffered a herniated disc in his back. This was the first major injury in his successful career. Stephen Trachsel underwent treatment that cost him much of 2005 season. In March 2005, he went disectomy and returned in the later part of the year. He played for the final six starts of the season, posting a league-average 4.14 ERA and going 1-4.

2006 was quite eventful for Steven Trachsel, when he recovered to start 30 games. He gave one of the best performances of his career in the month of September, when he clinched the the National League Eastern Division Championship. He also started the clincher of NLDS, but could not continue long and removed in the 4th innings.

In February 2007, Stephen Trachsel was signed by the Baltimore Orioles as a free agent. He was signed after his fellow former Mets righthander Kris Benson was diagnosed with a torn rotator cuff and will miss all of the 2007 season.
