Underdog Walt Disney Movie

Released on 3rd August, 2007, Underdog is an animated film based on the super power cartoon character of the same name. The movie is produced by Spyglass Entertainment and Classic Media and was distributed by Walt Disney Pictures. Directed by Frederik Du Chau, the film is based on the comic book, Underdog series 18.

The film Underdog opens in the City Hall in Capital City. Here the mayor addresses an audience about the skyrocketing instances of crime in the city. In between a lovely dog, who passes by is taken by Cad to the lab. Once there, the dog is caged surrounded by other caged dogs. The other dogs inform him of all bad stuff going on in the lab.

Underdog then spans on the scientist, Dr. Simon Barsinister, who walks into the lab with Cad. They decide to perform an experiment on the underdog. Simon informs him that the experiment is going to hurt him a lot. The underdog sneezes due to nervousness and jumps out of Simons hands. He then runs around the lab and causes severe damages to the lab. In this process he spills some chemicals on himself. These chemicals cause some changes in his body and he is able to run out of the lab by smashing walls in his way.

Underdog the dog then is run down by a car while escaping. He is miraculously un-harmed and is taken home by the car owner, Dan. He nicknames the dog as Shoeshine. Dans young son does not develop a liking for Shoeshine initially and is highly astonished when the dog talks to him in a human voice. From then on they become very good friends. The dog later helps Jacks friend Molly by recovering her stolen purse.

The Underdog and Jack then decide to use dogs powers to become a superhero and save the needy. In the meanwhile the dog falls in love with Mollys dog, Polly. But fate has other plans as Simon discovers that shoeshine is the actual dog who escaped from his lab. He kidnaps Dan and forces Shoeshine to give up his powers and return to his old self. Simon stores all the powers in some blue pills.

The movie ends with Shoeshine becoming a hero as he saves the town by clicking off the bomb in the space. The film Underdog was released to huge success around the U.S. The film was placed 3rd in its opening week and grossed more than $42,937,703 at the domestic box office. Wikipedia
