Dennis Kozlowski Convict CEO Of Tyco International


Dennis Kozlowski, known as Leo Dennis Kozlowski, is the former CEO of Tyco International. He was born on November 16, 1946 at Newark, New Jersey. He is the former CEO of Tyco International. For misappropriating more than $ 400 million from the funds of the company he has been convicted. Currently, Dennis is in the prison for at least eight years four months. He is affiliated to the Republican Party. His father is Leo Kelly Kozlowski and his mother is Agnes Kozlowski.

Dennis did his high school from West Side High School and graduated from the Seton Hall University in 1968 with a BS degree in Finance and Accounting. In 1975, Kozlowski joined Tyco International and in the year 1992 he became the CEO of the company. He has to his credit Tycos massive expansion in the late 1990s. Dennis Kozlowski ushered Tyco in an entirely new generation of mega-conglomerates by consistently beating Wall Streets expectations through a series of acquisitions and strategic mergers.

In 2002, Kozlowski left Tyco because of a controversy in regard to the package of his compensation. Dennis Kozlowski has been tried twice. The first of which was a mistrial as one of the jurors who sided with Kozlowski later claimed that she was threatened. In the second trial, Kozlowski was testified on his own behalf stating that his pay package at Tyco was almost embarrassingly big and confusing, but as the companys top executive he never committed a crime.

On June 17, 2005 Dennis Kozlowski was convicted for misappropriation of the corporate funds of Tyco, among other charges. A total of 22 counts of grand larceny for $150 million in unauthorized bonuses were won by the prosecution. Kozlowski was convicted of fraud for an amount of more than $ 400 million against the company shareholders.

He was finally sentenced on September 19, 2005 by Judge Michael Obus of the Manhattan Supreme Court to serve from eight years and four months to twenty five years in prison for his role in the scandal. Dennis Kozlowski is serving prison at the Mid-State Correctional Facility in Marcy, New York. He is convicted for looting the company Tyco and selling its stock after artificially inflating the price. Its been assumed that for his perceived extravagant lifestyle he became notorious.

Dennis Kozlowski had Tyco pay for his $ 30 million New York City apartment which included $6000 shower curtains. He also purchased several acres in the private gated community according to Forbes in The Sanctuary in Boca Raton, Florida when he was still the CEO of the company. Karen Kozlowski, his wife filed for a divorce on July 31, 2006 in Palm Beach County, Florida. A lien was also seeked by her on the couples Boca Raton mansion. Finally the motion requested alimony.
