More popular as the fourth place finalist of American Idol, the TV s reality show, Chris Daughtry is a rock guitarist, singer and a songwriter. He was born on 26th December 1979. His birth name is Christopher Adam Daughtry. He is also the lead vocalist of the Daughtry band, which was formed in the year 2006. On 18th November 2007, he won American Music Award in categories of Pop or Rock: Favorite Album- Daughtry Daughtry, Adult Contemporary Music: Favorite Artist and Favorite Breakthrough Artist.

Chris Daughtry was born in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina. He admired singing from his childhood days and at 16 years of age, he gave it a serious thought and wished to become a professional musician. In high school he used to participate in shows with rock bands like, Bush, Live etc. and performed in two stage productions called The Wiz and Peter Pan at that time. He formed a high school band by the name of Cadence. He was the lead vocalist and played rhythm guitar.

Chris Daughtry played lead vocals for a number of rock bands including Absent Element. He also enrolled for Rock Star: INXS contest auditioned in 2005. He met with success at the American Idol auditions in Denver, Colorado. He performed marvelously and stunned the judges with few of his rock performances. He reached the top 4 of the contest but was eliminated in the fifth season on 10th May 2006, which took everyone by surprise. He sang the song Mystery with band Live in the finale of fifth season, which soared to no.80 on itunes top 100 charts.

Elimination of American Idol followed a sale of about 1 million copies of Chris Daughtrys self titled debut album, Daughtry Daughtry. The album hit the top of Billboard charts in its ninth week. Chris also stepped in the talk show circuit and appeared in a series of popular shows like The Tonight Show, Total Request Live, Live with Regis and Kelly and many more.

Chris Daughtry acquired a lot of name and success and his popularity heated up. He appeared on the sets of 2006 MTV Movie Awards on 8th June 2006. He also appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on 16th June that year. It is reported that he signed contracts with 19 Entertainment and RCA Records. He released his debut album on 21st November 2006. His tracks were played by WDCG 105.1 radio station for the first time on 26th October 2006.

Chris Daughtry performed The Star-Spangled Banner at the NFLs NFC Conference Championship game in Chicago on 21st January 2007. He was also invited on The Morning Show with Mike and Juliet along with his band on 22nd January 2007. His song Home became a memorable hit at the American Idol and was played every time a contestant was voted out. Later it also became the song of 2007 NBA Playoffs. Chris also performed for Viva Las Vegas on September 19 as a tribute to Elvis Presley.

Chris Daughtry was raised in Lasker, North Carolina till 14 years of age. He grew up in Lake Monticello, Virginia along with his parents Pete and Sandra. He spends his leisure time reading comic books and painting. He has one stepdaughter and one adopted son. His daughter was born in July 1997 and his son Griffin was born in January 1999.
