Trace Adkins Country Singer Lyricist


Known as the American country singer-songwriter this man has hits over hits throughout years with his vocals and rhythm guitar since 1996. This man is none other than Tracy Darell Adkins as Trace Adkins for his own compositions and lyrics that has made history in the music world.

Trace Adkins started his singing as a bass singer for the regionally popular gospel quartet The New Commitment at the age of seventeen. This resulted in the release of his two local albums at the age of eighteen with which he started his singing career. He was primarily known for his mixing honky tonk music blended with elements of gospel, blues and rock and roll.

Trace Adkins since his successful career in 1996 gave his first ever hit Theres a girl in Texas. At the first stroke it reached the Top 20 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles and Tracks chart. His second release in the same year was Dreaming Out Loud. The Rest of Mine proved to be his subsequent hits within two years or so which either achieved gold or platinum status. Despite, his subsequent singles proved less successful.

Trace Adkins was voted as the Top New Male Vocalist by the Academy of Country Music in 1997. In the same year he was given the same award by Country Weekly. He subsequently achieved the same category of award in 1998 given by TNN/Music City News Awards. His first two albums achieved Gold and Platinum from the RIAA that yielded five top-ten smashes followed by his fourth album which also went gold.

Trace Adkins stood a regular guest on Bill Mahers Politically Incorrect where he conducted extensive discussion about the political affairs of the country giving his comments. He also starred in the TV commercials and magazine ads for trucks and jeans. Adkins also narrated music shows, home-décor programs as well as western documentaries and a new feature film named, The Dance.

Trace Adkins on July 5, 2001 was charged with driving under the influence in Nolensville, Tennessee. Though the singer pleaded, he was sentenced to 11 months in jail but was suspended after 48 hours. He was also charged with a $350 fine and his driving license was suspended for a year. Later again, he was injured in a tractor accident for which he had to cancel touring. Even later in 2002 he entered a 28 day alcohol rehabilitation program.

Son of a factory worker and a school teacher, Trace Adkins was born on January 13, 1962 in Sarepta, Louisana. He started his guitar at an early age and joined a gospel music group in high school. He then studied music in Louisana Tech University and took up oil rig after graduation. Since then his singing started and took a boom in 1996 which continues till date proving his and his work a truly American country singer-songwriter. Wikipedia
