Julie Lucas Member Of The Prince William County School Board

Julie Lucas is a member of the Prince William County School Board and represents the Neabsco District. She has been doing so since October 2002. During her first term she was chosen unanimously to replace Mrs Mary Williams, who died from cancer in September 2002.

Julie Lucas was re-elected in November 2003 for a four-year term with 65% votes to her credit and is campaigning for re-election in 2007. In 2005 she was elected the Vice Chairman of the school board. She represented the board in the Audit Committee of the county. She served as a member as well as the Chairman of the School Boards policy committee.

Her other services include as the representative for the Washington Area Board of Education; as representative for the North Virginia Special Education Regional Advisory Council and Julie Lucas is currently on the Student Health Advisory Board. She is not new to being members of these policy-making bodies. Prior to her selection in the School Board, she served in the Career and Technical Education Advisory Board.

Julie Lucas is the President and owner of the independent financial services company, Lucas Financial Group. Her initiative has helped the people of Virginia to get a Chronic Disease rider to their insurance policies. The House Bill 1294 allows the Virginians to have financial support to pay health care policies in case of need. It was the single handed, successful lobbying by Julie that helped this bill to become law.

Julie Lucas shares a strong working bond with the entire School Board as well as the Board of County Supervisors and the General Assembly Delegation. She vehemently pushes for public education and for the cause of the need of the children.

Julie Lucas idolises her father. According to her she learned the values and sense of civic duties from her father who is a serviceman and retired as a Lt. Col. In the US Air Force. She remembers a T-Shirt gifted to her by her father that said, A Womans Place is in the House and the Senate. She was greatly inspired by the slogan.

A graduate in Political Science from the University of Texas at San Antonio, Julie Lucas started her career as a high school teacher of government and economics. This experience helps her to understand the need of hiring and retaining quality teachers.

Julie Lucas currently is on the Board of Directors for the Boys and Girls Club and the Fundraising Chairman. She helped the Prince William Clubs raise $250,000. She was honoured with the Woman and Youth Award in 2006. She is currently trying to teach Internet safety and prevent gang formation with the aid of the Attorneys office and in partnership with the Boys and Girls Clubs. In her next term she wants to implement her objectives in the Prince William County Public Schools. Votejulielucas
