Polaroid Land Camera Worlds First Instant Camera


Polaroid Land Camera was the worlds first instant camera. The camera was invented by Doctor Edwin Land in February 1947 in New York City. Land was an American inventor and physicist. His invention of a one step process for developing and printing photographs brought a huge revolution in the world of photography. This technique was patented as instant photography

Edwin Land founded the Polaroid Corporation for manufacturing his new invention. He demonstrated the camera to a meeting of the Optical Society of America. The first ever Polaroid Land Camera was sold to public in November 1948. The lands patent can be seen on the left side of the camera, which allows a photographer to remove the developing print after a picture has been snapped.
Polaroid started the production of Land Camera in the year 1948. The camera proved to be an instant success and the joys of instant photography are enjoyed even today. The original Polaroid Land Camera used a roll film. The camera was loaded with a roll of negative film and threaded through rollers where it was joined with the actual print paper by a leader. This mechanism proved to be very successful in printing out an instant image.
The Polaroid Land Cameras have been constantly innovated over the years. It has kept up with changing times and has developed itself into an ultra advanced technology on date. It has come up with a camera which focused using a sonar type ultra sound mechanism. The cameras have become a favorite among the amateur photographers. They are also very importantly used in science, police work and proofing by professional photographers.

The Polaroid Land Cameras come in various sizes. The largest Polaroid film is 16X20. The handful of large format view cameras, which support this size are usually used in producing fine art images. The smallest Polaroid print is formatted by the I-Zone camera, which was declared as one of the best selling cameras in the world in the year 1999.
In the year 1960, Edwin Land collaborated with Henry Dreyfuss Design Company to produce a camera design, which was to be the first Automatic 100 Land Camera. The company introduced the Polaroid Swinger Camera in 1965. The black and white Swinger Cameras became a huge hit with the customers. The company got involved in one of the largest patent suits involving photography in the year 1976. Polaroid filed a case in U.S. District Court of Massachusetts.

The Polaroid Corporation, which is the owner of numerous patents relating to instant photography, filed a case against Kodak Corpn. for infringement of 12 Polaroid patents. After five years of trial, the court decided, on October 1985, that seven Polaroid patents were valid and infringed. The Kodak Company was out of market of instant picture.Clickonavid.
