Traveling Nurse Agency Offers Attractive Terms To Travel Nurses

Traveling nursing jobs are in increasing demand in the healthcare sector. There are numerous agencies in the United States which offer employment options in this type of nursing. The job of a traveling nurse agency is to recruit traveling nurses to be employed in hospitals around the country. The compensation package, accommodation and utilities vary from one agency to another

Traveling nursing jobs are a relatively new phenomenon in the healthcare sector. Qualified nursing professionals take up temporary employment at hospitals on a contract basis which may be located anywhere in the country. It is different from residential nursing in that the travel nurses are contracted for short term assignment by a traveling nurse agency. Hospitals tend to hire travel nurses for a variety of reasons which may range from shortage of nursing staff in positions which they cant but must fill or simply because it may be located in a small, out of the way place.

The period of traveling nursing assignments vary from one contract to another and is generally decided between the traveling nurse agency and the healthcare employer. A typical assignment may last as little as eight weeks or as long as 26 weeks. The assignment may be renewed at the end of the contract period if it is mutually desire by both parties. While some positions are temporary and continue to remain that way, in many cases the agency can make arrangements to convert a temporary position into permanent one if agreed by both the nurse and the healthcare facility.

In most cases a traveling nurse agency supplies the travel nurse with furnished housing and travel expense. Sometimes the travel nurse is paid a housing allowance and assisted by the agency to find a housing of the professionals choice. Travel expenses too are handled by the agency as it may either fly out the nurse to the assignment or provide a mileage reimbursement. A travel nurse must have license to work in the state where the assignment is located. Generally the agency helps out with the licensing process which may vary according to individual state laws.

Travel nursing jobs offer dual advantages as, on one hand, the hospital is able to fill up a vacant position temporarily and the travel nurse gets paid above market rates to live and work in a new place. Other benefits include provision of certain utility services, health, dental and workers compensation as well as payroll benefits. Many times a traveling nurse agency also offers 401K and other retirement plans. A travel nurse is paid by the agency it contracts with and the mode of payments is generally by direct bank deposit checks.

Choosing the right traveling nurse agency is of utmost importance when seeking a travel nurse job and some of the questions to be kept in mind are whether the agency guarantees the working hours, pay rates, for how long has it been in business and worked with the healthcare facility. Access Nurses, Continental Nurses, Travel Nurse across America, Fastaff Nursing, American Mobile Healthcare and American Traveler Staffing are some of the most popular travel nurse agencies in the United States.
