Tisha Campbell was born in Oklahoma City on October 13th, 1968 as Tisha Michelle Campbell. She was brought up in Newark by parents who encouraged her interest in music. Her mother becoming her voice coach and at six years of age, Tisha made her debut on TV in an episode of the PBS show The Big Blue Marble (1994). The show featured stories on the life and culture of children from all over the world and in her episode, Tisha was seen playing with her brother, going to school and singing at a jazz concert in Greenwich Village of New York.

As a child, Tisha Campbell took part in and won many talent shows and music competitions. Very soon she bagged roles in childrens shows like Kids Are People Too, Unicorn Tales and Captain Kangaroo. When she was fifteen, Tisha made her way to London to star in the film version of Little Shop of Horrors in which she starred as Chiffon, one of the Supremes-like Greek Chorus in the movie.

After graduating from the Arts School at Newark, Tisha Campbell moved to Hollywood to launch a full fledged career in acting. One of the first roles that came her way was that of Marva in the popular television series Rags to Riches (1987-1988). In this, Tisha played the role of a young Afro-American girl who becomes the virtual leader of a group of six children adopted the wealthy businessman, Nick Foley. The series was short lived, running for only 23 episodes but it brought Tisha into the national limelight.

Among other television series in which Tisha Campbell had major roles were Martin and My Wife and the Kids. In Martin, Tisha appeared as Gina Waters, the girlfriend and later the wife of the primary character Martin Payne. In 1996, Campbell filed a lawsuit against the shows producer and co-star Martin Lawrence for sexual harassment, verbal and physical assaults. The case was settled out of court to enable the filming of the last few episodes and Tishas absence was explained in the shows storyline as her having left Detroit to run one of the L.A offices.

Tisha Campbell made her debut as a singer in 1993 with the album, Tisha. Two tracks, Push and Love Me Down received minor airplay on the R&B stations. In 1997, Tisha contributed the vocals for the soundtrack of her film Sprung, singing a remake of Dont Ask My Neighbor with fellow actress and former co-star Tichina Arnold. Her other works include a guest appearance on an episode of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air as well as in two music videos of Will Smith.

Tisha Campbell later went on to become member of the American Film Institute and the Writers Boot Camp. She also produced a short film, A Luv Tale which won the Audience Choice Award at the Black Hollywood Film Festival. She has been married to actor Duane Martin for over ten years and they have son named Xen. Lately there was some news of the couple splitting up; however this was denied by the pair and the family continues to reside at Los Angeles in California. Wikipedia
