Thandiwe Adjewa Newton, the BAFTA Award- winning actress was born on November 6, 1972 in Zambia. Her father, Nick Newton, was a white English lab technician and artist and her mother was a Zimbabwean health–care worker. According to Ndebele, a Zimbabwean language, Thandiwe means beloved and it is pronounced as TAN-dee. Thandie spent her childhood in Zambia and Britain and was educated at Downing College under university of Cambridge. She received a degree in Anthropology.
