Sprint Offering Wireless Communication Giants


Sprint is a big company in the communication sector offering a wide range of wireless as well as wire line communication service. The aim of the company is to provide mobility to its consumers, business as well the government user.

Sprint is widely known company for its skills in the field of developing, engineering, deploying of innovative technology. They have two strong wireless networks that serve almost 54 million of customers. Their services include industry leading mobile data services, instant national walkie-talkie facilities and one Internet backbone.
Sprint is the third largest wireless telecommunication network in the United States just after Verizon Wireless and AT&T. this is also the second largest broadband service provide and the third largest long distance provider in the United States.
Sprint Corporation was founded by Cleyson Leroy Brown in 1899 in the small town of Abilene, Kansas. Then it was named Brown Telephone Company. Then the company was landline telephones company that operating as a competitor to the Bell System.
On December 15, 2004, Sprint announced to merge with NEXTEL to form their joint venture Sprint Nextel Corporation. Though it was announced as a merger, Sprint actually bought NEXTEL communications company. This was a significant step for the company as they were the respectively No 3 and No 5 Company in the US mobile phone industry.
Sprint, now operating as Sprint Nextel offers cellular phone service under its Sprint PCS and Nextel brands. At the same time they also provide of landline, long distance, and business telecommunications, and are a Tier 1 Internet service under the name SprintLink.
Sprint also offers pre-paid services through the Boost Mobile brand while providing services in the Philippines through the Next Mobile brand. Sprint Nextel wholesales capacity on its PCS wireless network to companies called Mobile Virtual Network Operators (MVNO). The MVNO uses the Sprint PCS network for coverage. The MVNOs resell wireless services using their own brand. Current MVNOs that uses the PCS network to provide coverage are like TracFone, Virgin Mobile, BeyondMobile and Working Assets. Sprint
