The Lear Siegler was taken over by The Carlyle Group in 1997. The Carlyle Group has other defence interest and also include EG&G Technical Services, Inc. the Carlyle Group took the decision in 2002 to combine the two groups under a common management and gave the company a new name EG&G Technical Services, Inc. the two companies combined to become the leading provider of outsourced management and technical support services to the Federal Government. The EG&G Technical Services, Inc. was later acquired by URS Corp. which is a market leader in architecture and engineering services.
