Directed by Keenan Ivory Wayans, Scary Movie is actually a comedy that parodies the horror and mystery genres. In this movie, several of movies are spoofed. For the movie David Kitay won BMI Film Music Award in 2001. The movie brought awards to many of its actors. Cheri Oteni won the Blockbuster Entertainment Award as best supporting actress in 2001. Both Marlon Wayans as well as Shawn Wayans were nominated in the category favorite actor in Blockbuster Entertainment Award in the same year.
