
Sara Gilbert is an American actress who was nominated for an Emmy Award. She is very a well-known screen persona for her longtime performance in the U S. sitcom Roseanne. Here she acted as Darlene Conner-Healy from 1988 to 1997.
Sara Gilbert was born on January 29, 1975 in Santa Monica, California and her maiden name is name Sara Rebecca Abeles. She was born to a Jewish family to her mother Barbara Crane and father Harold Abeles. Sara has two older siblings and her sister Melissa Gilbert is a famous actress of Little House on the Prairie fame, while her brother Jonathan Gilbert played Willie Olsen in Little House on the Prairie.
Sara Gilbert stepped in her acting career in 1984 when she changed her surname to Gilbert from Abeles. Gilbert thought to be an actress when she was just at the age of six and witnessed her older sister Melissa gets a platform on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. She was merely thirteen when she got an opportunity to act in the role of the sarcastic middle child, Darlene Conner in the film Roseanne. Before this she had appeared in a variety of television movies and a commercial for Kool Aid.
From the age of nine years Sara Gilbert worked as a cast member of Roseanne and this was during the decade of 1988 to 1997. For this long experience Sara wrote Don't Make Me Over, which was the fourth-season episode of the television serial. Considering the significant contribution of Sara for the show, where the producers scheduled her work in such a manner so that she can continue with her study.
This was a big opportunity for Sara as she could pursue her study at the Yale University. Subsequently she kept on working as one of the cast members of Roseanne. At Yale University Sara Gilbert majored in art with a prominent stress on photography. In 1997, she received her University bachelor's degree with honors.
Later in a number of TV shows Sara Gilbert also appeared as a cameo in a number of TV shows. To name some of them are The Simpsons, 24, ER, and Will & Grace. In the fall of 2005 with the sitcom Twins on The WB network Sara came back to prime time television but after one year the sitcom was canceled while The CW Network was established by the merger of The WB and UPN networks.
In 1992 with Drew Barrymore Sara Gilbert has appeared in Poison Ivy and in 2001 she appeared in Riding in Cars with Boys. After finishing up with Roseanne she appeared in several other minor roles and these include short film $30 (aka 30 Bucks) which was as part of the Boys Life 3 feature. In 1998, a film came called Persona Non Grata which was done under her own direction.
