Shirley Temple Former American Child Actress

Shirley Jane Temple was born on April 23, 1928 and later she became as Shirley Temple Black. Shirley is a former American child actress and has acted in more than 40 films all throughout 1930s.

After much struggle for establishment in Hollywood, Shirley Temple signed Fox Film Corporation. In 1933 Shirley acted in two films Stand Up and Cheer! with James Dunn. Soon after, she coupled up with Dunn and worked in several films including particularly her first block-buster Bright Eyes produced by Sol M. Wurtzel.

Temple first performed a song in Bright Eyes and that song On the Good Ship Lollipop particularly became her trademark. This performance took place just after the film Curly Top and in this film she sang Animal Crackers in My Soup. In 1936 it was an extraordinary thing for Shirley Temple that she was paid a lump sum amount of money for her work on Poor Little Rich Girl and she earned roughly $15,000 per week.

Shirley Temple gradually turned out to be the most lucrative player and she stayed with Fox until 1940. During 1933 and 1935 her contract was adjusted more than a few times and she was hired by Paramount for a couple of films in 1934 that were very much successful. For long four years, she remained as one of those box office stars in America who brought top revenues.

Some changes were done in Shirley Temples birth certificate to extend her babyhood. Her birth year was changed from 1928 to 1929. Until she became a twelve year old girl she was never told about her birth day. The reason is still unknown why this was done.

Shirley is recognized and appreciated as a dancer, particularly a tap dancer. Even in her initial films she delivered some stunning dancing performances. When Shirley Temple only five years of age she was able to manage most complex tap choreography in the films. In several films like The Little Colonel, Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm, The Littlest Rebel and Just Around the Corner she performed along side eminent dancer Bill Bojangles Robinson.

At the time of 1930s Shirley Temple had promoted many other products except her contributions in the films. These products were like Temple dolls, dresses and costumes from the movies which were sold tremendously. Even at present original Shirley dolls fetches a great amount of dollars on the secondary market.

Apart from these there are other profitable Shirley Temple items like a line of girls' dresses and hair bows. Even at present these songs are played on radio.
