Rockwell Standard is a prominent name in the North American Aviation Industry. The company started its journey when Colonel W R Rockwell modernized a financially ruined company that was set up at Oshkosh in Wisconsin.
The unit that was spotted by Colonel W.R. Rockwell used to develop double reduction axles that were required to run heavy-duty vehicles. Rockwell-Standard Corporation was set up after the Rockwell Spring and Axle Company changed its name in the year 1958.
The Rockwell-Standard company was the transformed version of the Rockwell Spring and Axel Company. The company was set up under the guidance of Willard F. Rockwell Sr. It was during the First World War, Willard was commissioned a major at the Quartermaster Corps.
It was after his hands-in experience at the First World War, that Willard tried to put his concepts into application by manufacturing the worm driven axles in the manufacture of trucks that were required for the Army. With the out and out experience in manufacturing the industrial components like spring and Axle, the Rockwell- Standard Corporation was set up.
Rockwell-Standard ventured on a plan of diversification in the decade of the later part of 1950s and 1960s. In the year 1967, the company stood out as an independent that used to manufacture a number of automotive components that were chiefly required in the daily manufacturing process.
Sometimes later in 1967, the Rockwell-Standard Corporation and the North American Aviation industry amalgamated to set up the North American Rockwell Corporation. After sometime the business unit of the Rockwell industries expanded.
After Rockwell-Standard the company transaction of the brand expanded. Several brands like Rockwell Collins Australia, Rockwell Electronics Australia, and Rockwell Ship Systems Australia sprang up. After Aviation industry the brand shifted in to a number of other sectors.
Rockwell-Standard was one of the leading companies in its specific industry. After the brand, the brand that rose to eminence was the Rockwell Collins Australia. The industry took over the Collins Radio Company. The Australian Division of the Collins Radio Company in Australasia was also taken over.
It was in the same year, that the business transactions of Rockwell- Standard group were expanded. It was in this same year the North American Rockwell and Rockwell Manufacturing merged to create the Rockwell International Corporation. Later the RCA became a part of the Collins Avionics Group of Companies. It carried on the business transactions as a subsidiary unit of the Rockwell International group of companies.
Rockwell-Standard belonged to a business group, which gradually expanded the business transactions through out the world. Another addition to the Rockwell group was set up in the year 1985. The company was set up especially to provide the strategic guidance and serve as a concentration point for the Australian companies altogether.
