Pabst Brewing American Beer Company

Pabst Brewing Company, best known for Pabst Blue Ribbon beer is an American company. Established in 1844 by Jacob Best, the company is historically connected to Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

It is there the company was set up and at present the corporate headquarters of Pabst Brewing is situated in Woodridge, Illinois. Pabst possesses a datacenter in San Antonio, Texas, which is the earlier location of its headquarters.

In 1999, the Pabst Brewing Company started its process to reassign its production to Miller Brewing Company and that was on a contract basis. The company closed this production of the last brewery in Allentown, Pennsylvania in 2001. The immigrant German brewer, Jacob Best founded Best Brewery in 1844, which is the original brewery.

Best Brewery, the mother concern of present Pabst Brewing was established on Chestnut Street Hill in Milwaukee and it had a capacity of manufacturing 18 barrels. Afterward, in 1863, a steamship captain named Frederick Pabst fetched a share in Best and Company. But by this time the brewery witnessed a tremendous growth in its sales. They started bottling in 1875 with the name Best Select.

Best Select, as mentioned in the history of Pabst Brewing was made to be the popular beer, which at present named as Phillip Best Brewing Company. Several awards and recognitions also adorned the brand and made it very popular in the competitive market.

The label gradually became very prominent and gradually it registered its win against Budweiser. So in 1882 Pabst Brewing started selling the beer with a blue ribbon tied around the neck to signify it was an award winning beer.

In 1889 the name of the brewery was transformed to Pabst Brewing Company and it was in 1893 Pabst's beer took the first place in a competition at the World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago. Subsequently, the Pabst Blue Ribbon developed into a most reputed brand in the American beer industry. Additional credit came in the year of 1895 when Pabst hit the million-barrel per year mark to become the first U.S. brewer.

The beer was so popular that Pabst Brewing started ordering millions of yards of blue ribbon. In 1902 throughout the year one factory worked around the clock to produce beer to complete a contract for 10 million yards of ribbon. Fredrick Pabst passed away on New Year's Day of 1904 and the business was headed over to his sons Fred Jr. and Gustav.

At first in 1906 the Pabst Brewing Company started to use caps on bottles in the place of corks. Fred Jr. and Gustav efficiently spearheaded the production of the brewery through the disappointing years when prohibition took place and they changed their production to malt syrup, tonic, cheese and near beer.
