Lysette Anthony Face of the Eighties


Born on September 26,1963, in London, England, Lysette Anthony is a theatre, television and an English film actor. Her real name was Lysette Chodzo. She was daughter of actor parents Michael Anthony and Bernadette Miles. She has completed her schooling from a convent school in Turquay, Devonal.

Lysette Anthonys career began as a supermodel at an age of 16. She was nicknamed as Face of the Eighties by David Bailey. At the age of 20 she became popular among the viewers for her excellent acting.

Lysette Anthony became more famous after she played the role of Eleanor in 'Dead Funny', by Terry Johnsons at The West Yorkshire Playhouse. She was also cast as Joanna Lypiatt, in Noel Cowards Present Laughter. Lysette after a super hit comedy The New Statesman, with Rik Mayall directed by Josie Rourke became an important part of a sell-out run at the Trafalgar Studios in the West End as Arabella Lucretia.

In 2006, Lysette Anthony gave a leading guest appearance in popular television show like Casually and a new sit-com pilot, Baggy Trousers. She is also well known for her superb acting of Veronica Cray in The Hollow, Rachel Heath in The Bill, and a two-part Poirot film for ITV with David Suchet.

Lysette Anthony has worked in more than 30 films including Husbands and Wives by Woody Allens where she starred as Sydney Pollacks neurotic mistress, Without A Clue with Ben Kingsley and Michae Caine. Some of her other movies include Mel Brooks Dracula- Dead and Loving It, The Lady and the Highwayman with Hugh Grant, Farewell to Harry, Tale of the Mummy with Christopher Lee, The Loch with Patrick Bergin, Look Whos talking Now with John Travolta, The Advocate with Colin Firth Dr. Jekyll and Ms. Hyde with Sean Young.

Lysette Anthony became popular among television audiences due to her extensive work in ITVs Murder in Suburbia, award winning soap opera Night and Day in ITV Dombey and Son, Oliver Twist, Campion, Jonathan Creek (BBC), Lovejoy and Auf Wiedersehen Pet (ITV). She had also worked for six years in BBC sitcom Three Up, Two Down. She is remembered even today for her role as Cunning Witch Angelique in gothic television series 'Dark Shadows' for eight episodes, where she glued the audiences to their seats with her flawless French accent and eerie laugh.

Memorable for her theatre works, Lysettes credits include the role of Jackie Bowier Kennedy Onassis at the Queens Theatre in the Broadway transfer of Jackie, The Vagina Monologues at The Royal Albert Hall, 'Toys In the Attic' starring alongside Hayley Mills at Watford, the Lady Not for Burning at the Northcott Theatre, Exeter, Ibsens Ghosts at the Shaw theatre, Restora.
