LTV was formed by the merger of Chance Vought Aerospace firm and Temco Aircraft which was one of the companies bought by the founder James Ling. Temco Aircraft was part of the other companies bought earlier by James Ling and he merged all his companies with Vought aerospace firm to form a conglomerate and this formed LTV.
