Leelee Sobieski American Actress of Deep Impact Fame


An eminent American actress Leelee Sobieski was born as Liliane Rudabet Gloria Sobieski on June 10, 1983 in New York. A writer by profession her mother Elizabeth Salomon handled and nurtured her career with perfection.

Right from her childhood the actress grew up in a Jewish atmosphere, exposing herself to the Jewish atmosphere. Belonging in the line to the throne of the Polish crown, as her great great great great uncle John III Sobeiski was said to be the last Poland king, Leelee Sobieski hardly uses the title.

In New York while dining at Leelee Sobieskis school cafeteria she was discovered by an agent. Following this the agent took her to the auditions for a role in the movie the then-upcoming Brad Pitt/Tom Cruise Interview With a Vampire.

As per the agent she was thought to be the best choice, however the role was won over by Kirsten Dunst. Eventually Leelee Sobieski received her first break with the movie Deep Impact, starring Tea Leoni alongside. The movie turned out to be a massive hit at the box-office, giving her the most aspired break she could have asked for.

Gaining high publicity there on the actress received a role in the movie Joan of Arc. Nevertheless, the movie could not market well as it got lost among the several other Joan of Arc films. However, Leelee Sobieski was lucky enough to receive an Emmy nomination and also a Golden globe nomination for her role in the movie.

In another TV movie titled Uprising, Leelee Sobieski portrayed the character of Tosia Altman, which bought her praises from all spheres. Having a fluent French accent earned her roles in numerous French movies including Merchant Ivory Film A Soldiers Daughter Never Cries (1998), Lldole, (2002) and even the miniseries Les Liaisons dangereuses (2003). The miniseries was a literary adaptation of Lacloss classic novel, which also featured Catherine Deneuve and Rupert Everett.
Other than this she was a part of several other movies such as Jungle 2 Jungle (1997), Never Been Kissed (1999), Here on Earth (2000), My First Mister (2001), The Glass House (2001), Uprising (2001), Joy Ride (2001), Max (2002), Hercules (NBC, 2005). In the remake of The Wicker Man under the direction of Neil LaBute Leelee Sobieski acted alongside Nicholas Cage. In director Arden Wohl's short movie Coven she had led her voice doing the narration part of the movie.
A painter by profession her French father Jean Sobieski during his youth was featured in several Italian spaghetti Westerns. Her favorite pastimes are writing and reading poetry. She also enjoys painting and ceramics. As a quite active girl Leelee Sobieski is quite a keen horse rider and an expert at martial arts.
