Nicollette Sheridan Golden Globe Award Nominee

Nicollette Sheridan is a British actress who is most for roles in American television series and soap operas like Knots Landing and Desperate Housewives. She has also been nominated by the Golden Globe Awards. She was born to British actress Sally Sheridan at Worthing in West Sussex, England. Eventually she came over to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career in American television and movies.

In 1984, Nicollette Sheridan made her debut in television with a small role in the series Paper Dolls after which she appeared in couple of minor gigs and a spot in the 1985 film The Sure Thing with John Cusack. Next year, however, she hit big time with the role of Paige Matheson on the well-established soap opera, Knots Landing. She started out on the show as an occasional star but her growing popularity made her a regular on the series.

For the next few years, Nicollette Sheridan continued to play the saucy and beautiful temptress on prime time television. Next she landed with roles in a series of made-for-television movies like A Time to Heal, Virus and The People Next Door. In 1996 she appeared with Leslie Nielsen in Spy Hard and next year in Beverly Hills Ninja with co-stars Chris Farley and Chris Rock. Then followed a low in Sheridans career with minor roles in average productions until she landed a major role in 2004 with Desperate Housewives.

In Desperate Housewives, Nicollette Sheridan played the part of Edie Brit, a seductive divorcee who is a prime attraction for all the men in the neighborhood. The rising popularity of the show led its producers in indulge in one gimmick after another and as part of yet another promotional stunt, Sheridan acted in an introductory skit for a Monday Night Football Dallas versus Philadelphia game in 2004.

In this skit Nicollette Sheridan appeared the players locker room, wearing only a towel and flirted with Philadelphia Football player Terrell Owens. This display, nicknamed Towelgate, earned Sheridan a citation but also generated a lot of publicity for her and boosted the ratings of Desperate Housewives.

In May 2007, Nicollette Sheridan expressed a desire to leave the show after the end of the third season and in fact her character hangs herself in the final episode of the season but some viewers are not sure if the stunt means that Edie has actually died. She has been nominated by the Golden Globe Awards 2005 for Best Performance by a Supporting Actress in Television series for Desperate Housewives and has twice won Soap Opera Digest Awards for her role in Knots Landing.

Nicollette Sheridan has been romantically linked to a series of men and even as a minor she was in a six year relationship with teen idol Leif Garet. She married actor Harry Hamlin in 1991 but the couple were divorced two years later. Lately she is been reported to have been engaged to singer Michael Bolton since March 2006.
